| Subject: | M30 Cargo Carrier HELP!!! | |

I’m looking for M30 Cargo Carrier reference material. As you are aware, this is the unarmed version of the M12 155 mm Self-propelled Howitzer used to resupply the M12.
I would like to build this relatively unknown vehicle in 1.35 from the Acadmy M12, but reference material is very scarce.
Has any manufacturer even attempted a conversion kit in 1.35? Azimut used to produce a full M12 kit before Academy released theirs. Did they do an M30 as well? I don’t recall.
I have the 1.76 Fujimi kit, but it’s a fairly basic kit? I also have the M12/M30 Operator’s Manual on an Elite CD, but again, there is not much detail. Hunnicut’ Sherman isn’t much help either! I only recall a couple of (fairly poor) photos of this machine in action in Steve Zaloga’s Concord US Armoured Artillery in Action.
So I’m stuck. Can anyone help with good reference material of the interior stowage arrangements or any good photos/drawings of the vehicle in general? Some nice photos would be very useful!!!!
There is only one M12 that I know of and that is at Aberdeen. I don’t think there is an M30 in existence anywhere. Does anyone know better?
Also – maybe Steve could answer this – following their rebuild, were all M12s/M30s fitted with later style square air filters (as in the Academy kit)? The manuals show that they originally had the earlier round filters. I wonder if these may have been retained on some machines.
Another question. On M12, were the ten holes for the ready rounds in the rear compartment floor sunken slightly below floor level. I would think they must have been, otherwise the unused rounds would fall over with the recoil from the gun. Academy doesn’t depict these very well. |
