I agree, Rob. But then, I know how to pronounce Wespe and that Brummbaer doesn't mean grizzly bear. There are certain basic terms that most modelers use, and Dunklegelb is among those terms. You learn them like you learn how to use a #11 blade.
We keep hearing about a soon-to-be book on Wehrmacht camouflage by two authors posted above, but it isn't here yet, and their link gives info that is in perhaps slight disagreement with folks who have paint samples to back up their earlier interpetations.
Anyway, the basic info is posted above, and the paint companies have bottles on the shelves with those names on them. If you want generic paint, then - again - I agree, use purple, maybe with chartreuse counter shading.
