I was on a business trip to Bulgaria and visited the Military Museum in the capitol Sofia on a fine sunny day (March 14th,2007)
The museum has recently moved to new buildings and has a large vehicle collection outside as well.
In the collection you will find the typical Soviet material (including a complete SAM-2 Battery) but also some German WWII equipment, listed below.
Since i did not find any data regarding the museums collection before my visit -their website is quite basic- and don't know what is known in the modellers world regarding this museum if have put some pictures on Photobucket, the links you will find below.

The museum is located in Sofia, not far from the city centre at the following adress;
92 Cherkovna street. It is closed on mondays and tuesdays. Entrance fee is 4 Lv (around EUR 2) and for taking photo's in the yard they charge you another 10 Lv (EUR 5) Opening times are 10-18 hrs.

Hope you like my report, the museum is worth a visit for WWII and later modellers. The only drawback is that the collection will wear down rapidly in the Bulgarian climate of hot summers and cold winters.

The German part of the collection consists of;

1) The Panzer IV

Very run down vehicle, gutted on the inside (empty) and according to the sign in use with the Bulgarian Army between 1943-1947. My guess is its a Panzer IV H.

2) The Jagdpanzer IV

Jagdpanzer IV Early, also used by the Bulgarian Army. All vehicles have been overpainted with green although a yellow base colour can be seen below.

3)Stug III Saukopf

4)Stug III Early

One of the roadwheels was torn off and the track lay in the field next to the vehicle.

5)SdKfz 7/1

Sad to see such a vehicle in this state; completely destroyed by rust and obviously picked from a dump somewhere as i saw someones toilet seat unter the cab! No identification possible through all the rust and decay.

6) Horch

This vehicle obviously has been used after the war as someone has built a wooden shack on it. From the data plate in the engine compartment i could identify the year of manufacture (1940) and the serial number; PI 27451.

7) Unknown (German) vehicle?

8) 20mm Flak (one of two present)

And some other vehicles:

1) SU-76M

2) Soviet style engineering vehicles

3) 2S3 Howitzer, BTR-52
