Considering that there was effectively NO tank threat from the Japanese Army, and the huge need for the 90mm guns in Europe, I can't see any Pershings being sent to the pacific prior to the end of hostilities in Europe. Heck, I don't believe they even got many 76mm Shermans, as the HE round in the 75mm was more effective and the armor penetration was in such great need in Germany.
Now, there may have been tanks being stockpiled for the invasion of Japan, but as far as anything actually seeing combat? I have never seen anything that supports it until the info you've mentioned.
