Hi All,

I'm working on an Initial Production Tiger I from Tamiya and I'm
confused a bit about the color. I'd like to do one of the vehicles that
you see depicted in dark tan in most references from 501/502 with the
large red numbers on the turret sides. My guess is that these are one of
the Afrika brown colors, but at least one of the Doyle/Jentz references
points out that initially the Tigers bound for Africa had their original
dark gray oversprayed lightly with olive green to produce a pea green
color.

I'm guessing that all the other references aren't wrong and that it was
only the very first batch (that was initially intended for Russian Front
service) that was done in the 'green over gray' method - and that
subsequent vehicles (and probably the green/gray ones as well) were
painted in the more familiar browns (Afrika Braun or Afrika GrauBraun
?).

What does everyone think?

Thanks!
