This tank belongs to sPzAbt.508, the well known photo is made in Italy by U.S. army soldier.
They found this tank damaged and because of the crane they called it "Berge-Tiger" (recovery Tiger) That's why you will find in books often this photo called Berge-Tiger. There are 2 photos of this tank existing.
The sPzAbt.508 received this Tiger with others of another sPzAbt.
I'm not shure at the moment, was it the 505. ?
However, this other sPzAbt. used it for towing damaged Tigers (without any changes, only main gun was removed).

This modification to a mine clearing vehicle was made from sPzAbt.508 itself.
The tank was used to clear mine fields by towing a "Spengladung"
How this "Sprengladung" loked like and how this was working ... I dont know.

Don't ask for my sources, for this I have to watch my library.
At the moment I only remember in a very good report in one old "Steel Masters" (German publication, not the French one) and in a book with grey cover.

You choose better the Italeri kit to build this tank.
The CMK kit based on the really old Tamiya Tiger (not the never Tamiya Tigers!) and some details with the crane are wrong to.

The best thing is to use crane parts from Italeri kit, Tamiya's never Tiger mid. and Zimmerit from atak. (perhaps tracks from AFV Club ? )
