Mike,
the various versions stayed in duty as long as possible. The 251 was a very valuable vehicle and supply of new vehicles was always short. So they were maintained and fixed well.
And, the 251 series was produced by a lot of manufacturers. The riveted ones for example by firms that were not able to make the welded ones. On all fronts at any times there were all the different versions, well maybe no Ausf. A in April 45, but a C definately.
