Hi guys and thanks for your responses.
I agree Panthers might pose a problem to the workshop, even though there were some similarities in design but bearing in mind rather confusing situation in 1st SS Pz.Korps (and the whole German front)after the Battle for Hungary I still find it possible there could have been 'unauthorized' tanks in heavy units. Elsewehere at the time there were mixture of vehicles in several units (Tiger Is among Tiger IIs). Anyways, it's a tempting idea that there could have been a Panther or several among Tigers. Too bad nobody seems to be able to confirm this pro or con. The command tank proposal makes sense to me. Thanks for that.
After all, it looks more and more probable that DML's research team has made a mistake. Maybe the tank should have been marked as a Leibstandarte tank instead of 501 (a single key instead of double key)? Maybe Mr. Dragon could somewhere bring more light to the subject matter?
Regards,
Mikko |
