Steve is talking about the internal locking arm, not the hatch itself.

Steve and Matt: this feature has been discussed and guessed at ever since the Tamiya Sturmmorser Tiger came out years ago. From memory, I think it was surmised that a horizontal locking bar would be activated by a lever which was attached at the central hub.
