In the images I've seen, motorcyclists wore the standard uniform. They often wore a version of the tanker helmet, but the standard steel helmet was also regularly worn.

A Thompson SMG was carried in the scabbard.

The attached image is of Pvt Vance, dispatch rider of the 33rd Armd Rgt, 3rd Armd Div in Normandy.
