| The most important thing about this is to remember that the hedgerow cutters were not like an armored transmission cover or turret hatch on the Sherman. There was no blue print or plans used, and they were not manufactured to any specifications in a factory back in the US, Britain, or Canada. They were all hand made individually with whatever was available. The most common material used was the angle iron used by the Germans on the Normandy beach defences. Because they were all hand made by troops in the field every one of them was unique. Also not finding any reference, while not helping you any; gives you a free hand to do what the troops in the field did. Whatever fits and works will be acceptable. After all no one will be able to tell you "they didn't do it like that" if no one can tell you how they "did" do it.My suggestion is to study some photos to see the general concept of how they were constructed, and then build and attatch it to the hull in the most logical way the troops would have used to make it fit on the real vehicle. |
