I've read a couple of favorable reviews of this book, but after ordering it, I found it to be useless and returned it. The artwork is totally generic, computer-type graphics that have little or no photographic justification for the unit they are supposed to represent. In several instances, an illustration credited to one unit actually represents a vehicle from a different unit. When vehicle illustrations are used to represent unit organization, like a tank or recce company, one illustration is repeated over and over again complete with identical camouflage and the same number. The photos are not very interesting and too small to show much of what little detail they contain. Several captions contain errors. The photos have little to do with the unit histories.
The unit histories are good enough for someone who has no other source of info - and who lacks web access - but they are much too brief and hit-or-miss to be otherwise useful. |
