I'm also very much looking forward to the Jentz book. My best guesswork has not satisfied my curiosity regarding the accuracy of the barrels I've examined. I made a collage of PZ III turrets in an effort to get an idea of what's going on. It doesn't really answer my questions. In fact it has made me more suspicious of the barrels I've examined than ever. Although I've been able to postulate a justification for the length of the barrels I’ve examined they seem short compared to pictures.

In the attached picture the PZ III turret just below the DML turret is in the full recoil position. This is clear looking at the tank from other angles. The others seem to be in the normal position.

Hopefully Jentz will clear this up for everybody.
