According to “Bertha’s Big Brother Karl Geraet (60cm) & (54cm)” by Jentz:
No.II and V: captured by Americans between 21 March and 11 April 1945; both were damaged on their railway transport.
No.VI: captured by Russians. It is now in Kubinka.
As Jueterbog, where the Karl batteries were, was captured by Russians by 20 April 1945, I guess Karl No.VI was captured there.
Other source and photographic evidence indicate the followings:
No.IV: captured by Russians. A couple of photos exist. Some people long believed that the vehicle in Kubinka was this No.IV. I suspect there is a possibility that No.IV WAS actually brought to Kubinka, but later scrapped.
No.VII (experimental chassis): captured by Americans in Hillersleben and brought to APG in almost complete form on its railway transport. It was displayed alongside the railway gun Leopord in APG (there are a couple of photos), but is said to be scrapped in 1950's.
The fate of No.I and No.III is not known. But I think both could be captured by Russians in Jueterbog, because No.VI in Kubinka is fitted with the gun from No.I, and No.III was heavily damaged (unrepairable form) in Spring 1945 and kept in Jueterbog. |
