I'd agree that Zaloga's concord book on the funnies is a good starting point.
In all of my refs, I've seen the Calliope mounted on:
M4
M4A1 (seems kind of rare from what I've seen)
M4 Composite
M4A3 47 degree hull (i.e., late 75w)
It seems MOST were mounted on the older variety (the first 3 I listed). Since these were I think only used in NWE, you'd want to have mostly the later features such as applique armor all the way around. Also, you must use the split commander's hatch, as I don't think the one piece type w/the all-round vision cupola would fit (with hatch open) under the launcher.
On the M4s I've seen both the 3 piece and 1 piece transmission.
I will soon be building one myself, using parts from the old Italeri Calliope M4A3, but I'll be mounting it on a Tamiya M4 with the necessary changes to the suspension (the Tamiya kit comes with the later upswept return roller arms) and a few other mods.
