hi Hampus
I had same problem with my ICM bergepanther early,the cover not wanting to sit right,so after a bit of sanding,scraping,more sanding and a final firm push it was in.You might want to try the same but remember to test fit all the time,for shape etc.I also replaced the jib/boom with a tiger model desgin jib/boom early.It has all parts for the jib/boom plus a hoist aswell.
If you go to the gallery ww2 german number 106 it is a ealry bergepanther with the cover, I have made the Italeri bergepanther and this has the open cover with a canvas cover to protect crew from weather.
The name of modeler of bergepanther with flak on top is Staf Snyers his has no cover but canvas cover. So it may be for the ease of crew to get in and out who knows. hope this is of some use to you
