Hello Frank,
Both Tamiya and Dragon are releasing an N model right now. The Dragon kit was just released this week. There is a review on the Military Modeling site.If you do use your J the whole lower hull is the same including running gear. You will need to fill in the lower hull side escape hatches as only a handfull of N's had these most N's were built on an L hull not a J . There is very little difference between a J and L hull. The elimination of the side escape hatches being the main difference.So the running gear and tracks from the J kit are just fine to answer your Question.Hope this helps, if you need any more help on your N don't be afraid to email me.
