German fire extinguishers were delivered in "Panzergrau" (German Tank Grey). It is a very dark color and can look like black.
In fact of that the fire extinguishers were externally mounted on German WWII vehicles, they were later in war (with the introduction of yellow as base color) often completely overpainted with camouflage colors. (yellow, green, brown)
