That Sherman Paul refers to is probably a British Sherman Armoured Recovery Vehicle (ARV) Mk I. Good photos are found in Alied Axis Issue 4 pps 32-37. There's a good picture of the recovery team working behind the ARV to pull tow cable to an abandon PzIV
Of course you could always build the more complex ARVMk II with the spade, gin poles, fixed rear jib, funky crew turret and fake gun.
