Gary's argument MAY be plausible but the photos of the repair units attached to Tiger units do not seem to support this. Most units refitted with Tigers received them in batches. These batches came with certain common features.

So, unless the repair unit came across a Tiger from another unit and took the wheels (which just so happened to be of a different type), I can't bring myself to accept this for my own modeling. With all the interesting actual vehicles and combinations, I don't feel compelled to make something up and state that the burden of proof/disproof lies with others.

Do as you wish with yours though...

As for Panthers, yes...this happened. There are even T-34 tanks with Panther wheels.

Keep in mind that interleaved wheels have limited clearance so fitting the two types may be impossible in the some stations when the adjacent ones have a different type.

Regards,
Saúl García
