Not to belittle anyone's more than valid reason why Shermans were such a successful/not successful tank.

Rubbish or not, the bottom line, the allies won. The Axis lost. This ultimately makes the Sherman a very adept, successful tank. Everything else is aesthetics, personal bias, comparative technology and industrial production capability. i.e. if I can produce a thousand more tanks than you can, regardless of techinical inferiority, I win and have the most successful tank.
