Shermanaholics:
I have been enjoying all the Sherman talk lately. I many have a new one for your all to ponder. I was at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida last week and I saw their M4 Sherman on display near their ground vehicle maintenance shops. The only thing unusual was the mantlet which only covers the right front half of the turret. The attached photo is not the greatest, but it is obvious this mantlet was manufactured as a "half mantlet." Picture 2 follows. I have never seen anything like this before on a Sherman and I have seen dozens at APG, FT Knox, FT Hood, FT Lewis.... Anyone know something about this half mantlet? |
