Hi Ken
I see what you mean now. This is not the device i was talking about, but it is an interesting alternative. The one I was interested in seems to be in two versions - cast and prefabricated - and has its own opening jaw that closes on a ring that goes through the tow cable eyes. Does the same job as the shackle in your photo.
