Hi Paul,
The Me 321 glider version could carry 20.000 Kilograms.
The six engined Me 323D could carry 9.750 Kilograms due to a heavier empty airframe weight. It could travel 1000 Kilometers with this load Range could exchanged for a somewhat heavier load, but only if a very long airstrip and booster rockets were available for take off.
So with the Pz III and IV weighing in above the 20 tonnes bracket these vehicles could not be transported.
The cargo hold was 11 meters long, by 3.30 meters high and 3.15 meters wide. So it could carry most trucks, halftracks, artillery and lighter armour.
An impressive aircraft it is though, once build the 1:72 Italerei kit and even in that scale it was so big I had problems with finding it a place to display.
In 1:35 it would have a wingspan of 1 meter and 57 centimeters, and a length of 81 centimeters. Do not expect to see it ever issued in that scale! ;-)
Cheers,
Alex |
