Hi

Well as I'm sure you are aware the spare tyre for this vehicle lives on the front of the vehicle, highly visible so it's unlikely you'd not realise that your spare did not match the rest of your tyres, and when these are swapped over by the supply depot I'm sure they'd allocate five per vehicle with a check list to verify.

Also bear in mind we are talking about the armed forces here not a civilian out for a Sunday drive. Allowing your vehicle to get lost, stuck or disabled through neglect would have been a serious offence.

Another thing to bear in mind the desert is an inhospitable place, unforgiving and harsh. You'd ensure before embarking on any trip that your vehicle was adequately set up for the journey before you left or it could be your last.

Finally tubeless tyres are a fairly modern type of tyre, in those days cars still had inner tubes, like a bicycle of soft rubber, that could be repaired if punctured.

So whilst I'm not saying this situation might not occur I think it unlikely given the circumstances.

My guess would be given the difference in size and ground contact area putting a different sized one on the front would play havoc with the steering and I'd be inclined to show it on the rear if you do show it.

Alan
