| Subject: | Cromwells with white turrets and roofs | |
| Date: | May 16, 2008 |
| From: | Michael Shackleton | |
I have been doing some Cromwell research and have noticed a white turret roof painted on a Cromwell in 'Villers Bocage Through the Lens'. I've never seen another picture of a Cromwell painted like this although it was suggested in Mike Starmer's latest book for Operation Goodwood to aid air recognition. Does anyone know any more?
Also, on Track Link there is a model by Felipe Moreno of a Cromwell with a completely white turret (on a green hull). Go to ;. Does anyone have any photographic evidence of an actual vehicle painted up like this? He's used the kit decal serial T187796 to produce a 'generic' Cromwell, but did it really exist? Apparently Cromwells like this were used in Operation Blackcock in the Netherlands in january 1945, but so far i've only found one solitary photo. I'd love to see more.
Cheers
