Johnathon:

Don't dispair or give up on your idea. While a Pz II from the Polish campaign might not be historically plausible, you could certainly use the same Pz II only more "recently" distroyed.

A plausible scenario might have a Pz II used by a Panzer unit staff officer (the fate of many obsolete tanks in the German army), perhaps even re-painted in 3-color camo, destroyed in an earlier battle (a Russian attack which was beaten back?). The same ground might have been fought over again after just a few weeks (sea-saw battles being quite common on the Eastern Front).

Given the tough Russian Front weather (say winter '45), a destroyed and burned (partially or completely) tank could be a rusty mess in just a few short days.

Your idea is a good one.

Good luck,
Mike
