Which part of the African campaign? The Brits had M4A1's (Sherman II's)
and a few M4A2's (Sherman III's) at El Alamein. The Americans in Tunisia
were equipped with mainly M4A1's in late 1942, although they also had a
few M4's. Finally, the French were provided with Lend-Lease M4A2's and
M4A4's to rearm in late 1944.
Overall, I think you're best off depicting an M4A1 (early) with direct
vision slots for a generic Sherman in N. Africa. Dragon's kit #6048 is a
good starting point, if you can find it.
