I don't get the sense that they were captured, I figure it's a "before
action" shot, with them thinking "Aren't those GIs going to be fooled when
they see us coming their way."

Were there any attempts by the Allies to employ a similar ruse against the
Germans, either using a quantity of German tanks or Allied tanks disguised
as Germans to trick them?
