And many thanks to Rick and Janine. The AFV G-2 article approaches the
conversion from a slightly different perspective and gives other options and
details. It was not listed in the old AFV G-2 index under M7.
D. P. Dyer's FSM article is from Jan-Feb 1986, and Gary Binder's AFV G-2
article is from 1979. Are these fellows still active in armor modeling?
One lesson to be learned is NEVER THROW AWAY YOUR RESOURCE MATERIALS! I was
lucky enough to have both of these - yep, been around that long and still can't
do a lot of the simple things.
Another lesson is to AVOID REINVENTING THE WHEEL. As wonderful as many of
today's publications and web sites are, the older materials had a wealth of
information in them that should not be forgot (the AFV G-2 has single photos of
a Wirblewind and a Konigstiger, an article on Korean War Su-76s, and bunches of
other good stuff). If an older member of your club or circle of friends drops
out of modeling or passes away, try very, very hard to preserve the old
resources - for your sake and in his/her memory.
If you haven't followed the link to Rick & Janine's web page, please do. Their
paintings and sculptures are wonderful and well worth your time!
