OK, here goes:

M10 TURRET

Measured at the top of the roof outside:

The angle at the rear point was 130 degrees.

Turret's Widest point: 72 1/2 inches across

From MG mount to rear edge of top armor plate: 55"

Rear plates: 41 inches from side corner to rear point under MG mount

Side Plates: 53 1/2 inches from top side corner to the front corner drop...38 1/2 to rear edge of top armor.
Approx 26 1/4 inches from top to bottom

Armor plate over breach:

52 inches wide at rear
43 inches wide at crease
42 inches wide at front under gun shield
(The gun shield has about a 1 1/2 inch overhang on each side)
From rear edge to crease: 15 1/2 inches
From crease to front end under gun shield: 15 inches

Mantlet: 46 1/2 inches wide, 21 1/2 from rear top to beak.

Counter weights:
They are inset 3" from the outer turret corner on each side.
They are 37 1/2 inches against the turret.
There is a deep hollowed out space on the top of the starboard counterweight right near the center line.

HULL PLATES
Sides: Top: 28 1/2 inches wide (Top to Bottom)
Bottom: 12 1/4 inches wide.

Rear: Top: 23 1/4 inches wide
Bottom: 10 1/4"

I need to get a longer tape for the hull length and and something to better measure angles with. Also a step ladder and a couple of extra helpers would of helped.

The M10 is not a very crew friendly vehicle to crawl around. There is almost no foot purchase along the sides because of the rear of the turret being wider than the hull. Getting in and out of the turret is also a challenge. I'm guessing there was a lot of paint wear on the gun from using the breach as a step.

Hope these measurements help.

Mike
