I have all of the AJ Press Panther books, Jentz's and Speilberg's Panther books, the Ryton Panther book, both Osprey-Vanguard books and the Squadron in action books. Given that, I still wonder about the following:
1-In the Osprey-Vanguard 21 book, the very first color plate (on page A) shows what is said to be a Kursk Panther from an SS Brigade. Can anyone verify this? I was under the impression that all the Panthers at Kursk served with either the 51st or 52nd and were all Heer. I am interested in this particular vehicle and would like to know if anyone can identify the unit, place and time?
2-In the Squadron "Panther in Action" book on page 11 is a picture of I02. Can anyone confirm that this picture was taken in the Anzio area? I have the AJ Press Panther books, and they seem to confirm this, but you know how we are about trying to be accurate. Also, looking very carefully at the pic of I02, it kind of looks like the interior of the numbers are filled with another color. The AJ Press book shows only a white outline. Does anyone have another opinion about the numbering?
Thanks in advance. Hope someone can help.
Semper Fi,
Joe |
