| Subject: | M4A1 18 ton High Speed Tractor... | |
| Date: | Nov 18, 2002 |
| From: | Christophe Aubert | |
Dear all,
This is no Sherman, I am afraid, but a M4 tractor with wider track than the usual ones (track extension on both sides). The boogies, idlers and sprocket had to be extended from the hull so as to accomodate the wider track. I think this would look good on my heavily rebuilt Blue Tank model (Yes some crazy people working on that one still!).
I have a partial TM mentionning the modification (hence the M4A1 denomination) and I found a picture of the beast so equipped.
Would anyone be so kind to tell me: i) Was this particular beast used during WWII? ii) Any drawing, picture or description how the extensions looked like.
Your help would be greatly appreciated,
Many thanks,
Chris |
