I've never seen anything stating the type of wood used.
My guess is that the jack blocks were made by small subcontractors who used
a variety of woods depending on what was in local supply. These smaller
factories typically operated on lines more similar to Schindlers (of the
List) than Daimler's Panther assembly lines.
By 1944 the Germans would have had to increasingly use what wood was
avaialable; the German war economy expropriated large amounts of forest from
occupied countries.
