There is a book called "Panzerjager: Tank Hunter" by William Folkestad.
It recounts the wartime experiences of a German AT crewman. I recall the soldier (Folkestad co-wrote it with him) training in a variety of weapons. He mentioned how once they allowed Soviet tanks to go past his camouflaged Pak 40 whereby they swung around the entire gun and proceeded to knock out two from behind.
He later became a half-track driver and was captured by US forces in this role.
Perhaps your patient or his daughter would be interested in this book? |
