| Subject: | M3 Turret Dimensions | |
| Date: | Apr 14, 2003 |

I was at Aberdeen Proving Grounds this morning and want to provide the
following information for any modellers out there wondering about the
Tamiya and Academy M3s.
The Aberdeen Honey, a hybrid M3 if Steve Zaloga is to be believed (and I
suspect he is), measured 49.75" across the outside diameter of the
turret. This scales out to 1.421"
The Tamiya turret measures 1.295" (just over 1/8" too small).
The outside diameter of the turret ring boss on the upper hull measures
1.447"
so:
It appears the Tamiya and Academy M3 turrets are too small by just over
1/8" and that the diameter of the turret ring is what the turret should
have been. Just as we have always been told.
