| Subject: | 234/2 Puma questions | |

Hi people,
With the Somua back on the shelf while we wait for its tracks, we have
decided to build italeri's Puma and sort of work along with
ww2modelmaker's group build.
Since we're not exactly the world's leading experts on Pumas, we are
left with a few questions. In no particular order:
1. Which unit used the field-rigged box on the rear left hand fender? My
guess is 2nd panzerdivision. Does anyone know the dimensions?
2. How deep should the rectangular stowage boxes be? They can't run all
the way to the hull, since they would foul the side doors. Just in case
we feel like opening them up. It looks like there's no flange on the
inside, all that keeps the covers from falling into the compartments is
the lock.
3. We think ABER's front vision port detail is bogus, is this correct?
I've never seen it as portrayed in the PE set (split window/glass blocks
remain in the aperture when the armour is raised).
4. Do we know anything about the gun cleaning rods and their rack?
5. Does anyone know of a clear shot of the circular cover on the rear
deck, just behind the superstructure? Eelke removed the grillwork and it
sustained quite a bit of damage in the process :-]
6. Should there be a flange on top of the fenders? I've seen one
modeller add this, but photos aren't too clear. The fenders on Munster's
(or is it Koblenz?) 234/4 look like complete reconstructions.
7. Did anyone save the pictures that were on ML's constructive comments
forum, showing a 234/4? I'm not sure whether they provide more detail on
exterior modifications or only showed the interior. Either way, they are
gone now..
And finally, is it just me or are those suspension units the very ^%#%^@
devil to clean up?
The biggest Puma experts are probably over on ML's forum, but for
obvious reasons, I'll have to ask our questions here :-]
cheers,
Rutger Warrink |
