Hi John,
Yes I am aware of the Mythical Weapon book by Michulec. Being fluent in
Polish does help and much is gleaned from the text along with the author's
disdain for the vehicle. Another nice book to get is the Russian language
The Obscure T-34 (sometimes translated to The Unknown T-34) which covers the
early versions very well.
Some items not covered in either book are the variations of the front
mudguards. These can be seen running parallel to the ground or slightly
angled down to intercept the lower radius of the bow plate.
This is the kind of detail I would like to put in the graph to help modelers
distinguish between the different factories, which turrets to use, tracks
likely to be installed, wheel setup, and possible casting marks.
Again, this would be for factory fresh vehicles since many could have a mix
of items. However, it should be noted that T-34/85 turrets could not swap
mantlets haphazardly since there were two widths available.
The turrets themselves came with either a long or short roof plate,
different rear angle plates, three different sizes of commander's cupolas,
etcetera.
Lots to annotate so any help with actual measurements would be appreciated.
Regards,
Saul Garcia |
