The plate in the book is based on a vet's photo. Are you sure the photo you
have shows a M4 (105mm)? The reason I ask is that it would be rare since the
tank battalions in the 6th Armored Division generally numbered the tanks by
company with HQ company tanks getting 11 to 19 (where most 105mm assault
guns would be located). The number 78 would be assigned to a Co. C tank, and
the line tank companies had only a single M4 (105mm) assault gun.
