I looked up spinning in a few handbooks today. The big disadvantages of the
process were its reliance on a skilled operator and the fact that it took
longer/was more expensive in production quantities than presswork. The
graphic showed spinning as cheaper for cones (several progressive tools
needed in presswork), about the same for hemispheres, and more expensive for
cups. The shape (a cup with a pushed-in bottom) also looked to be
problematic, as opposed to a cup with flat bottom.
Those dimples would be right out, as Paul noted.
