First off, let me say that in my opinion, many models being newly displayed
are greatly overdone as far as weathering. That said, and it's only my
opinion mind you, let me go on to add that I also feel that it is the
individual modeler's right. As long as the modeler is proud of his work. I
may be mistaken, but I thought the idea of these groups was to encourage
people to engage in the hobby, provide information on techniques that
someone MIGHT want to use, and to provide ideas to other modelers. Sometimes
it seems that we get too caught up in "counting rivets". I think the
original intent of the thread was simply to express notice of a general
trend, and to voice a personal disapproval of it. And a trend it is, I have
seen pictures of German armor models, built in the 70's, where the camo did
not extend to the upper surfaces of the vehicle, because that was the trend
at the time. We're past that now. For those of us that disapprove of this
seemingly new trend, it will pass. And I'll make you a promise, I won't
trash anyone for heavy weathering on their models, as long as they don't
trash mine for turning out a model that looks like it belongs in a new tank
showroom. To each his own. Deal?
