A quck reply from user experience. When the tracks arrive and stroed they are coated in a thin coat of bitumen type material. Once fitted they soon loose this and take on the normal colour for tracks, i.e a highly polished alluminium colour. once stoood fro a few hours however a thin coating of rust will soon appear, but this only lasts as long as vehicle is static. The shin effect will happen no matter if the vehicle is operating in mud or sand.
