Weird thing is my Uncle mentioned crewing a Cromwell after DDay but this was many years ago and he passed away so I can't go back to him for more information. (it's possible he was loaned to a British unit). It's also possible that Cromwell is crewed by Canadians serving under British command. I am going to check with a friend who runs a museum back home and see what he can dig up. Will post if I find anything useful.

Was your dad in the Artillery? If so his "Cromwell" might have been one
of the Centaurs attached to the Cdn Airborne. Vet's memories of the
exact vehicles they have crewed is notoriously inaccurate. This is
frequently because they actually called things by their wrong name at
the time and the Centaur ,looks enough like a Cromwell to pass under
almost any circumstances. The local units might have called the Centaurs
"Cromwells" in service never knowing the difference. Its possible...
