For a good description of the development and use of rocket tanks in the MTO, see this webpage:

It includes a lot of really good technical and historical information about the M17 and T34 rocket launchers. It also includes several photos that have never been published, as well some photos of a test firing, and the "before and after" effects of a rocket salvo.
