Tough one Alex!
StuG IV pics are scarce, but pics of the final production vehicles with 3 return rollers are even more difficult to find. Now give me a late version with four return rollers and I'll find more pics :-)
Don't want to open a can of worms on German late war camo, but I've seen many late war vehicles that appear to be either overall dark yellow or three color camo with dark yellow, green and brown.
Also the term "hard edge" is a bit misleading, a pattern can be sprayed with a tight demarcation, some would call it "hard edged" I don't, what I consider hard edge is when the pattern has been brush painted or painted with stencils and there is a definitive demarcation line between the colours.
Personally based on models I've seen in StuG model fibel #2 and profiles in the Ground Power on the StuG IV, I'd go for a tri colour camo, dark yellow, green and brown, in a tight airbrushed pattern with each colour covering about a third of the vehicle on average, a bit like for late Panzer IV/L70 (V)s.
Just my two Australian cents...
Hope this helps somewhat!
Cheers,
Christophe |
