| Subject: | How accurate is the Verlinden M4A2 Hull? | |
| Date: | May 17, 2004 |
| From: | Terry Bodiam | |
I've been given a Verlinden M4A2 resin upper hull with welded driver's hoods which I am going to make into a Soviet 75mm with some Sherman bits left in the spares box. The Verlinden upper hull seems to be a millimetre or so too low, and as I know little about Shermans (and the FSM book is unobtainable) I'd be very grateful if you experts out there could advise me on any inaccuracies that need sorting.
Also I believe that all Soviet Shermans were fitted with metal track as the rubber tracks on the M3 Lee had proved inadequate for the rigours of the Eastern Front. Does this mean that the grouser vent covers were not fitted on Soviet M4A2s?
And finally, on Soviet 76(W)s there are two blocks of stenciled data on the hull right side, one of US Shipping info, the other in cyrillic. Does any scholar out there have the text for these, and were they the same on M4A2s? |
