I'm about to assemble Michael Wittman's Tiger number 205 prior to Viller-Bocage. I thought my Tiger would depict Witttman's tank on its way to the fighting area. The model is Tamiya's late type Tiger I and scale, of course, 1/35. Anyways, there are some questions that need to be answered before I begin my assembly project.

The first question concerns the number of the tank. The most tanks of the 101. schweres SS Panzer Abteilung carried red numbers with white borders. In a picture taken when the Abteilung was moving to the Normandy Front the number of the 205 seems to be quite bright, possibly it is white. What was the real colour?

My second question is about the spare track on front of the tank. Apparently the track hangs there on a steel bar. What kind of a bar was this? A round one or similar to that on a PzKpfw IV? In some pictures it seems to be rather round one. And how was this attached to the tank? Under or onto front tow extensions?

Some resources say Wittman's 205 was a command version and it sounds logical. After all, he was a company commander. However, in pictures antennas cannot be seen too clearly. So was 205 really a command version of the late Tiger I?
