I am busy working on the Trumpeter 1/16 T34/76 1942 model and have become frustrated (in a nice way) with the lack of any consistent data on the colours for engine parts and interior paints. The web, together with pictures kindly sent by Ian Sadler, has been a goldmine of information and I think that I have found virtually everything that is out there. I have not yet found any really helpful print media. The problem is - what a kaleidoscope of colours!

Now, I do not suffer from AMS, and I am not naïve enough to expect any standard receipe for how T34’s were painted at the factory especially during times of intense combat and material shortages, but there must have been some guidelines.

For example, surely the engine components and transmission were not all aluminum as suggested by Trumpeter’s instructions. In addition, it does not seem likely that the whole interior was gloss white. Is the beautiful aluminum coloured engine with the red trim on the Tankmaster website really factory specifications? Engines from other sites show a variety of grey, aluminum, blue, and possibly white for components. Most of the hulks from Tankmaster and other sites show that the base colour of the interior was likely dark green or, in places, red oxide primer, grey with some remnants of the white.

In any event, if any of you T34 meisters have any comments, I (and I am sure other new T34 owners) would be eternally grateful.
