Hey Scott,
In this case I can only go by what I've found written about the engine.
But, whereas the block itself may well have been cast iron the cylinder heads, along with a number of other components honestly do look to be aluminum (see the photos below). The heads of course would not have been all aluminum but would have had iron or steel sleeves. Not an unusual technology in that this sort of constructions was (and is) common in aircraft engine production as well.
Also, IIRC, the Soviet Union was "aluminum rich" and in a reversal from the American policy gave materials priority to its ground forces.
Now you have me curious and I'm going to have to see if I can't dredge up more information on the darn V-2 :-)
