Euro Modelismo published a Monograph series a few years back. The "Tanks in Russia 1" covers Pz I to Pz IV during 1941/42. I believe you are referring to the tri-colour scheme (rarely) used on tanks in southern Russia. The scheme uses a luftwaffe grey with desert yellow patches, and lastly oversprayed with field grey stripes. Apparently there were variations other two tone colour schemes too.
